Climate Change Resilient Equitable Healthy Cities in Africa
PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
Climate Change Resilient Equitable Healthy Cities in Africa
CLARITY-Africa aims to co-produce novel, transdisciplinary knowledge to enhance resilience and adaptive capacity to the health impacts of climate change in four African cities — Accra and Tamale in Ghana, and Kigali and Musanze in Rwanda.
In partnership with policy and civil society partners in these four cities, CLARITY-Africa seeks to:
- Expose the specific pathways through which extreme heat and microflooding impact human health
- Identify those who are most vulnerable to these environmental risks
- Understand how the harms can be avoided or reduced
Our approach is designed to co-produce contextualised understandings of climate risks and coping mechanisms employed in these settings, and to inform the co-design of adaptations that are appropriate for the local context. The results will be disseminated within Ghana and Rwanda as well as globally.
